News and Milestones Achievements
Milestones:
2009:
- Fourth meeting of the Young Investigators held at the 17th EASO European Congress on Obesity, Amsterdam, Netherlands. Around 100 Young Investigators took part in the event.
- YIU website revised to include a database of theses and papers.
2008:
- Third meeting of the Young Investigators held at the 16th EASO European Congress on Obesity, Geneva, Switzerland, 2008. Over 100 Young Investigators took part in the event.
- YIU website launched in September to provide Young Investigators greater opportunity to network and stay informed of future events.
2007:
- Second YIU official meeting held during the 15th EASO European Congress on Obesity, Budapest, Hungary. 2007. YIU was given a new definition as an association for ‘all obesity researchers who feel young’. At the ECO2007 45 young(ish) researchers from 15 different countries came together at the YIU meeting.
- EASO introduced Young Investigator Poster Prizes at ECO2007 for eight promising young researchers.
2006:
- ICO 2006 in Sydney. Ideas were collected for future development of YIU.
2005:
- YIU was established by Tommy Visscher, Kirsi Pietiläinen and Jan Polak.
- First YIU held on 2nd June at the 14th European Congress on Obesity, Athens, Greece 2005. Over 65 participants, from 13 different European countries attended.
YIU sends regular e-bulletins updating members on awards, conferences and other information that we think might be useful.
